Following the redesign of my website earlier this year and the clear focus on the freelance strategy, I decided I needed some business cards to hand out to potential clients. I’ve designed lots of cards for clients in the past but never even had one to promote myself, so these will be my first ever ones!
I chose to use an online printer rather than a local one (which ideally would normally happen) purely because of my time constraints within the working day. My final design is double sided and I made a conscious decision to have a spot uv finish on specific aspects of the card. Quotes on websites can vary quite dramatically, but eventually I found one that was priced quite reasonably and also printed the varnish on both sides not just one.
The business cards are printed lithographically using a 400gsm luxury silk artboard then matt laminated both sides before getting the spot uv varnish finish. I also opted for rounded corners which I thought would be a nice touch, especially as my logo design has that circular detailing. Delivery time was not what you would call express, but since there was no hurry for them I felt this wouldn’t really matter.
Well they’ve now arrived and I must say that I’m really pleased with them. The thick stock retains the quality of the print and the round edges give that nice subtle touch. They certainly don’t look cheap, with both type and colours very crisp and deep in tone. Now to start giving these away!
